Trump signs executive order on health care price transparency
President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for the creation of a rule to require disclosure of negotiated prices of common tests and services and a proposal to require that patients be informed of estimated out-of-pocket costs before treatment. AHIP President and CEO Matt Eyles pushed back against the order, arguing that public disclosure of "competitively negotiated, proprietary rates will reduce competition and push prices higher -- not lower -- for consumers, patients, and taxpayers."
